When you think of Brazilian coffees one normally tends to say chocolatey and good for espresso and milk drinks. This coffee is nothing but ordinary. With shining acidity and sweetness, this is one incredible coffee. Delio Sering has changed our view on what a well-grown and perfectly processed coffee from Brazil can taste like. With tasting notes of mixed berries and citrus oil and a sweetness that lingers on the palate like a nice ripe pear, this is another all-day drinker, so pleasing.
Delio Sering is a relatively young producer, at just 30 years of age. He lives far up the mountain ranges of Afonso Claudio in a small area called Alto Lagoa. Originally, the farm was owned and run by his father, Nivaldo, but over the last six years, Delio has taken the lead.
There are 18 thousand coffee plants on the farm, primarily Red and Yellow Catuai. The very mild temperatures in this area help with coffee production; with the average temperature being around 18’C/64’F throughout the year.
After purchasing their own pulper in 2015, the Sering family really saw improvements in quality. This quality and the higher
premiums they have been able to obtain have helped the family purchase a greenhouse, a truck, and even new storage facilities.
